The Royal Decree of 19 December 2025 took effect on 22 December 2025, strengthening worker protection through inventory competence, exposure prevention, training and notification. It concerns how assignments are organised, not a single sale certificate for all Belgium.

Air measurements: current and future requirements

In 2026, the occupational limit is 0.01 fibre/cm³ averaged over eight hours. Electron microscopy becomes mandatory for the relevant measurements from 21 December 2027; the limit falls to 0.002 fibre/cm³ on 21 December 2029. These occupational limits are not a guarantee that a home is harmless.
