Is an air measurement always necessary?
Checks depend on the framework and method. In Brussels, a sealed area requires visual inspection and clearance air measurement before dismantling. For a semi-sealed area, air measurements depend in part on permit conditions, while visual inspection remains required. Do not apply one procedure to every site.
Material analysis and air measurement: two assignments
Material identification and airborne fibre measurement fall under different laboratory approval scopes: FPS Employment groups 6 and 2. Specify the required check, who commissions it and who receives the result. A material analysis report does not replace an air measurement report.

Which records should you request at completion?
Agree in the offer which records you receive: treated areas, completion report, applicable checks, any laboratory results and waste-route documentation. Ask which materials remain and where access is still restricted. Compare the file with the agreed scope before confirming completion.

Should the inventory be updated?
Under the federal workplace framework, inventories are updated annually and after changes to materials, including removal or encapsulation. Completed work therefore needs to be reflected in building records. For a Flemish asbestattest, check the document-specific update rules separately.
